Search & Rescue forces, such as firefighters, medical units and first responders, operate in the toughest of circumstances. The nature of their work brings them into areas of destruction due to natural disasters, fires, explosions, floods and the like. Not only have buildings collapsed, often so has the communications infrastructure. Search and rescue teams need to be able to set up communications quickly in areas where networks have collapsed or coverage is blocked due to physical conditions (underground, metal structures, etc). Reliable communications, particularly voice calls, are mission-critical – network failure often means lost lives.
Savion enables two-way communication of critical data, such as a live video feed from the scene or real-time data updates (e.g., building plans) from HQ to the scene. Since each Savion device can serve as an external gateway, this allows expensive assets such as a satellite terminal to be shared between team members seamlessly, as well as coordinating tasks among different forces. No single point of failure means 100% network availability regardless of the physical surroundings.
